I know…how many times can those of us who have a job, preach and give their knowledge to those that don’t?  Seems like a broken record, but hear me out…I won’t lie.

It’s no secret that finding a job is still hard and finding one that you actually like is even harder.  Job seekers are taking jobs that they don’t even want, but do so to pay the bills and live life; the position is usually less than desirable, but it’s better than nothing.  Well, here are some tips for job seeking life: 

It’s not what you know, it’s WHO you know – this statement is, has been and always will be TRUE.  An “in” is an in no matter how big or small.  Do you have friends and family that have jobs?  Great, ask them to poke around for you.  Friends with jobs, have other friends with jobs and so on.  Don’t be discouraged about stating that you’re searching for work…at one point, the person you’re talking to was in the exact same boat.

Job Fairs– If you hear about job fair…go!  Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t apply to what you’re looking for.  You don’t have to chat up ever company there, but take a lap and see for your very own eyes what companies are doing well these days and hiring.  They might not be hiring for your dream job just yet, but putting them on your radar can’t hurt, right?

Man/woman seeking job - Don’t be afraid to put your status out there on social media sites.   I’m not saying to throw up a Facebook post saying “Desperately seeking a job, I’ll take anything”, but highlight your strengths, what you’re interested in, set up a little blurb for yourself and get out there!  Other than the usual Twitter and Facebook advise that is offered about “follow your favorite companies” – Get on other sites that are saturated with professionals looking to connect.

That’s enough for now, but do you get where I’m going?  You have to cover all of your bases and not be afraid to get out there… in every way.
